Approach
Suzanna is flexible in her approach, and employs primarily schema-informed CBT to address the unique needs and preferences of each person she works with. She is a friendly, compassionate & experienced Clinical Psychologist, who provides a safe space to explore difficult emotions, thoughts and experiences.
Through supporting family members, Suzanna understands just how frightening and isolating it can feel when we get very stuck, and struggle significantly with our mental health. Suzanna has witnessed the courage it takes to seek help, and appreciates the importance of finding the “right fit” when it comes to mental health support. She always takes a collaborative, curious approach within therapy. She views each person as an expert on their own lives, and draws upon their strengths, hopes and values, working towards specific goals identified by her clients. She firmly believes “the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem”, and that her role is to collaborate with you to face the problem head on.
Experience
Suzanna has worked within the NHS for many years, predominately within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, where she worked alongside adults facing anxiety and depression, interpersonal difficulties and low self-esteem. She is also skilled at working with the system around the person (e.g. partners, the family & wider networks). Suzanna has a particular interest in working with people who experience anxiety and mood difficulties, in the context of neurodiversity (primarily Autism Spectrum Condition, or those with features of ASC). Suzanna has also worked within multi-professional ASC diagnostic teams, and she is an experienced clinical supervisor.
She completed her clinical training at University College London, and has undertaken further specialist training in CBT at the Institute of Psychiatry / King’s College London. She has particular interests in Schema therapy & Systemic family therapy, and has additional qualifications in these areas.
