Karen has worked as a therapist in the NHS for 15 years providing evidence based therapy to treat depression and anxiety disorders including obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, body focused habit disorders, hoarding, phobias and difficulties with self esteem, excessive self criticism and perfectionism. Karen compliments her CBT practice with other third wave approaches such Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to support the client on their journey.
Karen works with individuals and with couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship. She offers specialist evidence based interventions for couples who are experiencing relationship distress and one or both partners are also presenting with depression and/or anxiety. Karen offers specialist knowledge of perinatal mental health and specific interventions for women and men in this period including working with tokophobia (fear of childbirth)
Karen has been fully accredited with the BABCP for 10 years indicating continued commitment to high quality practice, CPD and supervision. Karen is also an experienced CBT supervisor for qualified and trainee therapists.
Karen has 15 years experience as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and has worked with individuals and couples facing a wide variety of mental health challenges.
