Approach

Life can be overwhelming and sometimes even exhausting, but I am here to guide you through any obstacles you may face. I can help you identify and understand unhelpful coping patterns, learn to focus on the ‘here and now’ rather than ruminating about the past or worrying about the future, and find more helpful ways to cope.

I believe it is important to use therapies that have an evidence base and we know work, but at the same time keep in mind that ‘not one size fits all’ so tailor therapy to suit your individual needs and goals. I primarily use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), CBT-E/CBT-ED (Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour for Eating Disorders), Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) as well as techniques from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Experience

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

I completed a British PsychologicalSociety (BPS) accredited degree at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a doctorate to specialise in Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL). I am trained to work with people across the life span from children to older adults and people with varying mental health difficulties from depression and anxiety to bereavement and relationship difficulties. I have specialist training in evidence-based treatments for people with Eating Disorders and have a wealth of experience in this area in both primary care and specialist Eating Disorder services.

I have over 10 years’ experience working for the NHS, in a variety of settings including primary care, adult mental health, children and adolescent services and specialist Eating Disorder services. I am currently working in Private Practice.
