Experience
Dr Constantina Markides is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years experience working with both adults and children with a range of mental health difficulties, including mild to severe OCD, low self-esteem, low mood and anxiety, disordered eating as well as relationship difficulties. In her current NHS position, she currently works as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist with adults and has previously been involved in providing autism assessments and offering evidence-based interventions to those with a neurodiverse cognitive profile such as autism within a Tier-3 NHS CAMHS service. After completing a BA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance at London Contemporary Dance School, she completed her BSC in Psychology at the University of Royal Holloway. She went on to obtain her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Essex and is also a qualified Yoga instructor. Her year long doctoral specialism was with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust within their Whole Family Service and Perinatal Mental Health service. Her doctoral thesis focused on self-compassion meditation and disordered eating. She specialises in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic, Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). She also has experience of Life Story work e.g. with those with dementia or families with children who have been adopted. Whilst she is committed to using therapies that have demonstrated research evidence supporting their effectiveness with specific difficulties, she often integrates different approaches in order to best fit the complex needs of the individuals she works with. Dr Markides enjoys working with individuals as well as families, parents, couples and groups across all ages. She has a particular interest in working with individuals to support them to obsessive compulsive disorder and has set up groups within the NHS to support this. She is also particularly interested in supportive individuals to overcome social/ health or generalised anxiety, low self-esteem, phobias, or concerns around body-image or weight, in order to lead a personally meaningful and fulfilling life.
