Approach

Anita uses short or long-term psychodynamic and other cognitive approaches, which may include dream interpretation, obsessive thoughts or images, as well as behavioral activation. Many issues frequently encountered in her clinical practice are relationships problems, dissatisfaction with current life circumstances, unmet career potential, difficulties finding a balanced and healthy lifestyle, struggles with anxiety or depression, digital media overuse, adjustment to a new culture, gender issues, bullying and racism, family disharmony, sadness about the past, history of trauma, among other psychological problems. Some of her post-graduate trainings include sleep disorders, addiction, infertility concerns, pain, psychosomatic complaints, anxiety, and depression. She is trained in EMDR for trauma and Calatonia® techniques for balancing mind, emotions, and the body. Along with regular therapy, practicing mind-body exercises may help to decrease physical symptoms, such as insomnia, nightmares, stress, intrusive thoughts, fear or panic, and other emotional and physical discomforts. In this process, patients will develop an ability to manage their mental health and attain life harmony.

Experience

Anita`s professional experience includes working for the NHS (both in adult and child mental health services), the Fire Fighters Charity, and in private practice as a consultant psychotherapist for trauma. Anita is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council in the UK, a licensed psychotherapist in the states of Florida and Georgia, and a registered psychologist in Brazil.
