I am a warm, empathic and thoughtful Counselling Psychologist who has been working with clients with a wide range of issues for over 17 years.
Book a sessionI work with the individual to identify the areas where change is important, drawing upon a number of therapeutic models to help us to work towards resolving difficulties and developing new ways of coping and thriving amidst the complexities of life. My work within the NHS has predominantly been with clients with complex mental health difficulties, specialising in working with clients with experiences of psychosis; bipolar disorder; trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); anxiety; depression; self harming; OCD; BDD; emotion regulation difficulties; interpersonal difficulties; low self esteem; stress, and sleep difficulties. Alongside this, I have supervised many other psychologists; trainee psychologists; and assistant and student psychologists. More recently I have been working with clients with persistent pain and medically unexplained symptoms. I offer evidence based approaches based on current research, predominantly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); but additionally have experience and training in Narrative Therapy; Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Behavioural Family Therapy for psychosis. My core training was in psychodynamic; humanistic and CBT approaches. I offer an integrative approach that can either be focused on past experiences or on the “here and now”, and is tailored to the needs and strengths of the client.
