About me

Simon is a warm, compassionate psychologist who provides a collaborative therapeutic space attuned to clients' values and goals. He has extensive experience treating a range of mental health-related difficulties, including issues with mood, depression, anxiety, worry, stress, low self-esteem, recovery from trauma, difficulties with social skills and anxiety in social situations, relationship and psychosexual difficulties, worries related to unusual beliefs and experiences, and existential concerns about leading a meaningful and fulfilling life. Simon delivers a range of evidence-based psychological therapies, in particular cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), and draws on related therapeutic modalities, such as positive psychology, dialectical behaviour therapy, and wellbeing approaches that support people to overcome obstacles and realise their potential. He works flexibly with clients to gain a shared understanding of their needs, manage their psychological difficulties, amplify their character strengths, and identify meaningful positive experiences. He provides psychological assessment and long- and short-term psychological therapy with individuals, couples, and families of all ages. Simon has many years of experience working in NHS services and mental health settings. He gained his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London, with a specialism in CBT, and has undertaken further training in various therapeutic approaches. He has a PhD in philosophy from University College London, and gained an MSc in psychology at the University of East London and a BA and MA in philosophy at the University of Southampton. He has published many scientific papers on mental health in academic journals and given oral presentations and keynote lectures at numerous international conferences.
