I am a counselling psychologist & psychotherapist with 15 years experience working with and supporting people around mental health difficulties, addictions, existential crises & dysregulated emotions.
Book a sessionManaging emotions and regulating emotions in the 21st Century has become an essential part of living in high pressure societies. I use a range of techniques bespoke to each person I work with and have a speciality in using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help people who have high or sporadic anxiety, and who struggle to regulate their emotions. This could be people with or without a Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis. Often, we can be tempted to use means of calming our emotions that might be useful in the short term, e.g. alcohol or cannabis use; but prove less effective in the long term and can lead to addictions to unhelpful coping mechanisms. The techniques I teach offer more balanced and long-term ways of managing stress, anxiety and depression. In our modern 21st societies, we can be prone to overthinking and getting caught up in thinking patterns that are cyclical, often distorted, and mostly unhelpful. These thinking 'traps' can lead to increased anxiety, hypervigilance, feeling in a constant 'fight/flight' state of body and mind, and generally cause misery. I offer direct, practical and helpful strategies and skills that help you better regulate your internal world and the form and maintain better relationships with the people around you.
