Book a sessionWelcome to my bio and a bit about me! My path into the field of mental health began before I entered clinical practice. In my early twenties I experienced the challenges of sustaining a creative business & navigating the anxiety and uncertainty of life. I developed a deeper understanding of the human mind & pursued a Bachelor of Health Science degree. My career in mental health began & over the past 20 years I have worked within forensic, inpatient, older peoples mental health, early intervention in psychosis and IAPT talking therapies. Initially as an Occupational Therapist I developed extensive knowledge of human behaviour, motivation and the factors that shape, support or inhibit our development and ability to overcome difficulty. Building upon this I undertook further specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), combining my understanding of behavioural function with evidence-based cognitive approaches. During my time providing CBT therapy to young people experiencing psychosis I developed extensive knowledge of working with trauma. I undertook Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR) accredited training and frequently use this modality when working with PTSD & trauma. It was at this time that I also became very interested in Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). Working compassionately strongly informs my overall therapeutic approach, recognising many people struggle with self-criticism & shame. I strive to develop a strong partnership in which individuals feel safe, supported and heard. I provide structured, goal focused & evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders, workplace stress, depression, trauma and stress related difficulties. I have extensive experience working with OCD, panic disorder, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, as well as work-related stress and burnout. I work with individuals in the NHS, funded by health insurers & self- funded.
