About me

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. My name is Kirsty, I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) offering suppport to adults and young people. I have over 10 years of experience working in various therapeutic roles in both the public and private health sector, from CAMHS, NHS IAPT/Talking Therapies, to Charities, and Education. Therapy is not about 'fixing' you, telling you what to do, or giving you the 'answer(s)', but instead empowering you to become your own therapist, to overcome barriers, work towards goals, and improve overall quality of life.  I utilise an integrative approach which means combining different therapy approaches to tailor treatment to better suit your needs. CBT offers evidence-based practical techniques is and a solution focused 'here and now' structured treatment… …whilst this is great for some, it doesn't work for everyone, so bearing that in mind… …person-centred counselling provides more flexible/less structured sessions giving you the opportunity to share more of your story. My role as a therapist is to: - help you to navigate the difficulties and obstacles that life presents - work together as a team and step by step, seek to understand what is going on for you - assist you in identifying your needs and goals to inform your treatment - support increased self-awareness through psychoeducation - offer strategies and techniques to promote personal growth, enabling you to manage life's challenges with enhanced resilience and confidence. Training: I am committed to ongoing continual professional development. This enables me to stay up-to-date on the latest research and techniques, which supports in the delivery of effective therapy with clients. In addition to my CBT qualification, I am currently studying a BACP-accredited PG Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy course at university. BA (Hons) Applied Community and Youth Work MSc in Psychology PG Dip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
