About me

Kathy's main therapeutic approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) but ahe also draws on ideas from Compassion Focused Therapy ( CFT). She finds it helpful to think with her clients about the type of approach that the client might find helpful depending on the clients hopes for therapy and the areas they are hoping to change. Kathy sees therapy as an opportunity to think with someone else in a respectful and open manner in order to understand why certain difficulties have arisen, as well as being an opportunity to develop new skills and coping strategies to help us improve our quality of life. Kathy has experience working within NHS Mental Health services and NHS Health Psychology services. More recently she has also worked within the private sector for services offering staff support for teachers and a weight management service, before moving fully into private practice. She works with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, psychological trauma / PTSD, sexual trauma and abuse, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, difficulties with eating and weight management, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue and adjusting to long-term health conditions. She enjoys working with the range of difficulties outlined above and has a particular interest in the way that our physical and mental health can interact, in particular regarding psychological trauma, living with chronic health conditions and eating / weight management.
