About me

I'm Jo, a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist, working with adults experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, stress, low self-esteem and trauma.

My professional background has shaped the way I think about the whole person and the different factors that can influence how we feel, function and experience life.

Rather than viewing difficulties in isolation, I’m interested in understanding the bigger picture, including how our experiences, relationships and circumstances can shape the way we see ourselves and respond to challenges. I see therapy as a collaborative process of understanding where you are, how you got there and what might be keeping you stuck.

CBT is the foundation of my work, but I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all.

I draw on ideas from approaches such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) where they are helpful, tailoring therapy to you rather than expecting you to fit a particular model. I’m naturally curious and down-to-earth, and I use humour and real-world examples to make complex ideas feel relevant and easier to understand.

I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be yourself, feel welcome and be an equal part of the process. I recognise that knowing you want help and actually asking for it are two different things.

If you’re nervous about starting therapy, that’s okay.

You don’t have to arrive with everything figured out.

We can take things one step at a time, exploring what might help and working towards the changes that matter to you. Ultimately, I want you to leave therapy with a greater understanding of yourself and your difficulties, a clearer sense of what matters to you, and the confidence to make changes that move you towards your own version of progress.
