10+ years of clinical experience in NHS primary and secondary care services as well as private practice with ongoing theoretical development.
Book a sessionI have completed my CBT training in IAPT service (NHS primary service), where I have developed invaluable skills of conducting comprehensive CBT oriented psychological assessments as well as delivering individual and group CBT treatment sessions. University teachings provided theoretical and practical learning allowing me to acquire the knowledge required when treating mental health disorders following protocols and NICE guidelines. Later working within Eating Disorder Service (ED) has given me an opportunity to keep developing my skills and competencies as a practitioner adding new understanding on adapting CBT treatment for adults with moderate to severe eating disorders. I have also demonstrated never ending passion for learning by undertaking postgraduate qualifications in CBT-ED and MANTRA treatments, which I have not only delivered while in ED Service but also supervised clinician on ongoing basis. I further expanded my clinical skills by undertaking a training in The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and have been leading on the ASD pathway by supervising each stage of the process and carrying out the diagnostic assessments. Prior to gaining CBT qualification, I trained as a psychodynamic counsellor and practiced my skills as a psychological therapist/counsellor in NHS secondary care service for Adults with complex needs. My responsibilities included carrying out clinical assessments to determine patient’s suitability for talking/psychological therapies and where appropriate provide short term psychodynamic counselling. I gained valuable knowledge of the importance of various assessments and outcome measures that helps identify psychological distress and improvement before and after therapy as well as evidence-based interventions. I learnt to recognise the challenges clients face, which might comprise adverse life experience such as abuse, loss and neglect and was supporting them to acknowledge, reflect upon and confront it with compassion.
