About me

With over 20 years experience working across the voluntary, public and private sectors, supporting individuals at their most vulnerable and through life transitions, I take a compassion focussed and non judgemental approach to therapy. Therapy is such a passion for me because I believe we all have our unique gifts - and our challenges to work through - and my therapeutic approach includes identifying all of these together. Within sessions, my key priority - alongside identifying yours - is to provide a safe space to pinpoint the key areas that are keeping you stuck, or feeling in distress, and the most meaningful, effective way of introducing change. This includes recognising and releasing thinking styles and behaviours that are no longer serving you - as well as introducing helpful habits. Change is also not just about releasing the less advantageous styles of being - it also involves being proactive in pursuit of the life you do want, whilst using tools to appreciate the life and moments directly in front of us. CBT offers so many ideas for change and insight that I believe therapy is at its best when it also focuses significantly on finding out what works for you. Not everything will fit for everyone and I always use an approach and pace tailored to your unique temperament and stage of life. In terms of specifics I am accredited with the BABCP as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist, meaning the majority of my work is focussed around Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also incorporate elements of; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Compassion Focussed Therapy Life Coaching When not practicing therapy, or researching more around therapeutic approaches and behavioural change, I love reading fiction, walking my dogs, new experiences with family and friends, baking on Saturday mornings and the feeling after exercise and fresh seaside air.
