Experienced cognitive behavioural therapist and registered psychiatric nurse, delivering assessment & treatment via remote telephone call.
Book a sessionI have over 20 years of psychiatric nursing experience. I am a specialist practitioner, registered with the NMC as having a specialist knowledge of the assessment and treatment of individuals presenting with serious and complex mental illness, using psychological interventions. I am qualified to Masters level in the delivery of cognitive behavioural psychotherapy, with full BABCP. I am currently studying my PhD at Derby University, with my research looking at preferences that men may have for particular components of a cognitive behavioural intervention and whether or not, a strong sense of masculine social identity may influence such a preference. I have a long history of work within the NHS as a primary care nurse specialist, responsible for assessment, treatment and triage of patients presenting at their GP practice with various mild to moderate mental health concerns. Since 2011, I have established myself in private practice during which time, I have been providing treatment for individuals suffering from various mental health issues, including anxiety disorder, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, specific phobia and work related stress. More recently, I have opened my practice up to remote telephone treatment work as this allows me to gain access to a much wider population. I have approved status to work with patients via several health insurance providers, including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva and Vitality Health Group and this enables individuals with a valid policy to claim funding for their treatment with me.
