About me

Dr Iqbal is a skilled and experienced Chartered and Counselling Psychologist specialising in treating a variety of problems, with particular specialism and interest in working with you if you have: difficulties with trauma, identity, feeling lost, relationship difficulties, if you are a digital nomad, feeling isolated, anxiety and work related stress. She is compassionate and sensitive to your needs and sees clients individually and/or with partners/family to fit your therapeutic goals. Following an assessment session she will collaborate with you and decide on the approach that will best meet your therapeutic needs. This is important because she believes that one size does not fit all and it is important that the best therapeutic approach is offered. Irrespective of the therapy interventions used, she describes her approach as warm, relational, dynamic, down to earth and person-centred. She also specialises in treating depression, low self esteem, emotional regulation, supporting parents, life transitions, anxiety stress management and burnout and dissociation. She is trained in and uses a broad range of evidence-based therapy approaches to inform her work with you, and this includes (Trauma focused) cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), EMDR, narrative (exposure) therapy, somatic approaches, inner child, attachment and psychodynamic, systemic, compassion focussed, and transpersonal therapy approaches. Dr Iqbal has over 10 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families, supporting with a diverse range of presenting difficulties. She has worked in the voluntary sector, the Local Authority and in the NHS. Her roles have spanned working with adults with complex and enduring mental health problems, and she specialises in supporting people with a history of complex trauma. In these roles she has supervised trainee psychologists and has supported mental health professionals with training on intersectionality and marginalised groups. She has facilitated reflective practice groups to support social workers and allied mental health professionals.
