About me

I recognise that beginning a therapeutic journey can often be quite daunting. It's often hard to conceptualise what it is you feel you'd like support with let alone what type of therapist or therapy. For this reason I wanted to give a little introduction to who I am, how I work and a little about the therapies I've trained in. I'm Stephanie (but only when I'm in trouble) so please call me Stevie for short. I'm a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years experience working with a range of clients, including adults, adolescents and families, all with different strengths and needs. This means I have experience working in community, education, custody and hospital settings as well as the local authority. In these varied roles I have worked with with male, female and non-binary clients. No matter the setting my aim is to personalise all therapeutic approaches to each individual client's specific needs. My particular area of interest and skill is helping clients to understand how their experiences have impacted upon their sense of self, identity, self esteem and relationships. We know how much difficulties in our sense of self impacts upon our mood, anxiety and desire for control. To this end, I have a proven track record of achieving positive outcomes working with clients to managing the impact of developmental and relational trauma, as well as complex PTSD. I am a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Structured Clinical Management and EMDR therapist with foundation systemic and family practice practitioner status and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (Levels 1 & 2). However, within my practice I draw upon other therapeutic models and strategies I have training in such as CBT, CFT, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to support sustainable change. I understand that reaching out for support can be very difficult and finding the right clinician is incredibly important. I aim to provide a compassionate therapeutic space tailored to you, your needs and goals.
