Approach
The therapeutic relationship is central to enabling people to feel empowered and move towards achieving their full potential. Samantha believes in the importance of providing a compassionate and non-judgemental space so that clients feel able to explore the difficult issues and challenges they face in their lives and gain a deeper understanding about themselves and what they would like to achieve. Some of the areas she specialises in include physical health conditions, anxiety, depression, stress management, low self confidence, career counselling, traumatic stress.
Experience
Samantha is a Counselling Psychologist and Integrative Psychotherapist registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). She works in the NHS and in private practice. As a Counselling Psychologist she has been trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches, including Person Centered, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Existential, which she tailors to meet your individual needs and circumstances. Therapy may involve working on a clearly defined problem area and may be time-limited or alternatively it may involve working in an open-ended contract in which you can explore your issues further. She has undertaken further training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. These approaches have a strong evidence base in helping people manage their emotional health and address difficulties associated with trauma and chronic stress.
