About me

Hi, my name is Paul. I am a CBT and EMDR psychotherapist with 15 years of experience supporting people who are struggling with emotional and psychological distress. I offer a non-judgemental space to explore your difficulties with curiosity, compassion and sensitivity. These may be difficulties in the present, such as traumatic events, relationship challenges, losses or distressing emotions or thoughts. They may also be linked to the past and childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect and abandonment. My therapy approach is person centred and trauma informed. This means that we consider your current difficulties in relation to your past experiences and life history in order to move towards healing. We understand now that many of the difficulties we face in everyday life such as depression, anxiety, panic, overwhelm and dissociation originate in traumatic, difficult or distressing life experiences. These difficult life experiences can keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling or relating to other people and ourselves. I work in an integrated way, blending Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). This allows us to create a bespoke intervention that is responsive to your current needs and hopes for therapy.
