About me

I believe that it is important for clients to feel comfortable with their therapist and are able to trust that they will be listened to with warmth, empathy, understanding and without judgement. I will work with you to understand why you might be feeling the way you are and will help create a calm safe space for us to discuss the difficulties that you may be facing at the moment. I understand that it might be challenging to begin therapy and will offer kindness and reassurance as well as gentle encouragement along the way. We will work at a pace that you feel comfortable with and together we can set goals to ensure that you get the most out of your sessions. I have more than 20 years of experience working in the NHS, most of this time has been developing skills within mental health practice, initially as an Occupational Therapist then as a Mental Health Practitioner. I have worked as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist since 2018 following completion of a post graduate diploma in CBT and have enjoyed working as a senior clinician within a busy mental health team where I have extensive experience of assessing and treating clients, helping them to achieve better mental health and wellbeing. I also have a supervisory role, providing advice and guidance to colleagues. I am passionate about the benefits of CBT and attend regular training to update my knowledge and skills. I have additional training in Behavioural Activation and have attended numerous workshops and training courses focusing on topics such as CBT for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, PTSD and non-underweight eating disorders . I regularly treat clients with specific phobias, worrying thoughts, sleep disturbance, depression, generalised anxiety, panic, social anxiety and low self esteem. I mainly utilise a CBT approach and also draw on techniques from Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness.
