About me

I have listened to many people talk of their experiences. I believe in first providing a safe space where people feel comfortable sharing their issues. Even if talking is difficult for you I will try and make the process easier by structuring the sessions so that I can figure out how to help. My expertise will then focus on assessing and understanding what has brought you to seek help at this time. Life can throw many curved balls and I aim to help reduce your distress and help you navigate the way forward. I will spend time getting to know you via an assessment. After this we will make sure that we both understand and agree what the issues are so that together we can move onto the treatment/therapy phase. I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches but specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassionate Focused Therapy (the 'Third Wave Cognitive Therapies). This enables me to tailor the treatment to best suit the person I am working with. I have extensive experience in working with Depression, Anxiety, O.C.D., Adjustment, Grief, etc. Most recently I have also been working with Professionals with issues of Stress/Anxiety/Low Mood-Depression//Burn Out. For a number of years I also worked with people in a mixed physical and mental health setting, where things can be very complex. The most important thing to me is that you feel comfortable in therapy as this is key in being able to benefit from it. The relationship between a client and therapist is a strong predictor of how someone will progress and therefore this underpins all of the work that I do. That said, the therapy itself is central to the work that I do. A.C.T. integrated with C.F.T. are effective, very user friendly therapies that I have found to be helpful time and time again for across a range of issues, as well as approaches that we as Clinicians can benefit from applying in our own lives.
