About me

Stephanie’s work takes an integrative approach, combining different ways of thinking about psychological difficulty and treating problems. She believes this allows her to work in a collaborative way with her clients adapting their work together to ensure it meets their needs. However, should a client wish to work using a specific approach such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy this can also be offered. As a therapist, Stephanie’s aim is to help clients work through their personal difficulties whilst encouraging self-acceptance, compassion and committed action. An assumption she brings to her therapeutic work is that change is always possible but not always easy. In order to achieve what we want from life, or to get where we want to be, changes may need to be made. Stephanie’s experience is varied. She started working in the prison service delivering group based therapeutic programmes before moving to work in a community drug and alcohol service. She began working for the NHS in 2011 starting in a Psychotherapy Department offering long term therapy. She also has experience working in a Pain Management Service and an Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) team, offering short term, more focused therapy. Stephanie is a now a Counselling Psychologist working in private practice. Although she is passionate about supporting people through many different kinds of difficulties she has a particular interest in helping those who have experienced trauma, especially those working for the emergency services as well as those experiencing birth trauma and postnatal difficulties. Stephanie is a full Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society and is registered by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). She has also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
