Approach
Maria is a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR therapist. She specialises in helping people suffering from depression, anxiety and trauma (including PTSD and CPTSD) so that they can feel better and stay better for longer. We all have times in our lives where we feel stuck and unsure how to move forward. In sessions with her, she aims to work respectfully, collaboratively and non-judgementally with her clients so that together they can can (a) come to a shared understanding of the client’s difficulties and; (b) find new and more helpful ways of managing them so that her clients can learn new skills and begin to make changes in the areas that are important to them.
Experience
Maria is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the EMDR association.
Maria has over 16 years experience working in the National Health Service (NHS) with adults aged 18 and over in various different roles such as primary care services (IAPT) and secondary care services (CMHT). The bulk of her clinical experience has been in secondary care CMHT services where she worked with people who had severe and complex needs. This means Maria will draw upon this rich experience to help you feel better.
Maria also has experience in doing Autism Diagnostic Assessments (ADOS) after being trained by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. She continues to do some ADOS assessments privately within HelloSelf as part of a team.
