Approach
I believe that effective therapy depends on a good therapeutic alliance and I invest in building relationships based on trust, mutual respect, compassion and care. I work collaboratively to empower people to achieve their therapy goals.
Experience
I have been practicing as a clinical psychologist for over 20 years, working across primary care, adult mental health and sexual health and for the NHS, the charitable sector and in private practice. Currently I am employed by a national drug, alcohol and mental health charity, as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead for Mental Health
I completed my clinical psychology training in 1989 and have undertaken further specialist training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and psychosexual and relationship therapy. I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I have completed Couple Therapy for Depression practitioner and supervisor training with the Tavistock. I am an experienced clinical supervisor and have held clinical leadership roles for many years.
I have experience of providing psychological therapy to people with depression, stress, anxiety, worry, low self-esteem, health anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and a range of sexual and relationship difficulties. I work with adults - individuals and couples.
