Approach

Kiran is a non-judgemental and empathic Health Psychologist, who values giving clients a space to feel understood and comfortable in learning about themselves. She works collaboratively with clients to prioritise topics and to establish goals to guide therapy. Kiran encourages identifying of unhelpful patterns and learning new skills to make small changes, so that clients end therapy with a different perspective.

Experience

Kiran has 10 years’ experience of working in mental health settings across the NHS and third sector organisations. During this time she has promoted health and wellbeing in various roles, with an emphasis on treating common mental health disorders in relation to physical health. Recent roles have focussed on leading the development of new long-term health condition services and pathways across the district.

She has experience of treating stress, depression, generalised anxiety, health anxiety, panic disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Furthermore, she has spent many years during and following her doctoral training, working with those living with adjustment of and the impact of a long-term health condition.

Kiran has experience of using different therapy modalities to treat emotional distress including: Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT); Compassion-focussed therapy (CFT); Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and Motivational interviewing.

Kiran has a special interest in working with the impact of long-term health conditions on emotional wellbeing, her clinical and research focus have been in this field since beginning her doctoral training.
