Approach

Josie believes in the importance of building a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship to enable her clients to feel safe to explore and develop an understanding of their experiences and difficulties. She uses evidence based approaches to work with psychological distress and to support clients to work towards their individual goals and values. Josie helps clients to identify their unique strengths, skills and resilience and believes this is key to enabling people to make meaningful and longer term changes.

Experience

Josie has 8 years experience working clinically in NHS services providing psychological assessment and intervention with individuals, families and staff groups in community, mental health and physical health settings. She completed Clinical psychology doctoral training (DClinPsy) at the University of Bath in 2014, and is registered with the Health and care professionals council (HCPC). Josie is passionate about and specialises in supporting people with psychological distress related to physical health difficulties and long term conditions and working with individuals experiencing health anxiety, appearance concerns, low self esteem, social anxiety and trauma. She has extensive additional training in cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and parenting.
