About me

Alison's primary approach is cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), which can effectively support children, young people and parents to manage a range of difficulties such as low mood, anxiety, obsessional difficulties and trauma. She works collaboratively and uses creative approaches to engage young people in making sense of their difficulties. Together Alison and her clients can find ways of developing skills and resilience to overcome problems and work towards achieving their goals, drawing on evidence-based practices. Alison has around 20 years experience of working therapeutically with children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties. She worked for many years in NHS CAMHS services as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead. Alongside her private practice she now works at Reading University, training new mental health practitioners to use evidence-based approaches with children and young people.
