He flexibly uses a range of evidence-based psychological models in order to make sense of complex problems and develop a clear plan for overcoming them. Phil uses his training and experience to help people to overcome their difficulties by teaching skills to live a full and meaningful life.

Phil is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of NHS experience of working with adults and couples. He is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and holds Chartered Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Phil completed his clinical training between 2005-2008 at the University of Hull and has worked at York Hospital NHS Trust throughout his career. He leads psychological services for people with cancer and neurological conditions, and has extensive experience with helping people live with health conditions such as diabetes, chronic pain and epilepsy. He ran a specialist clinic for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for many years and has expertise in managing mind-body interactions. Phil offers private practice with extensive in treating anxiety, depression, psychological trauma, low self-esteem and eating disorders.
Phil is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and systemic theory as his core therapeutic approaches. He also has extensive specialist training in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT; completed 2012), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT; completed 2015) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR; completed 2016).
Phil has extensive experience in treating a wide range of psychological conditions, with a specialist interest in psychological trauma, health anxiety and living with long-term health conditions.
