Joni is a reflective, compassionate and thoughtful practitioner who individually tailors assessment and treatment drawing on a number of different evidence based theoretical models.
Joni is a clinical psychologist with more than 12 years experience of working in the NHS and private practice. In this time, she has gained significant experience assessing and treating a broad range of psychological difficulties. She is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and has Chartered Practitioner Status with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Joni completed her clinical training in 2006 at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University. Joni went on to specialise in adult mental health: working in primary and secondary mental health care services, for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, with adults experiencing a range of psychological and/or physical health difficulties. Joni’s current NHS role, as a senior clinical psychologist, involves working in a specialist perinatal mental health service for Oxleas NHS Trust.
Joni is highly qualified with an honors degree in Applied Psychology (BSc Hons), a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) and is accredited as a cognitive behavioural therapist with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Joni has also undertaken considerable post-graduate training, including evidence-based psychotherapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She also has experience of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness.
