Alison has a warm and engaging style, and her experience allows her to put the person at the heart of the therapy she offers, she works with her clients in a compassionate and open way to help them realise their goals, and overcome the challenges that hold them back.
Alison has over 17 years experience working in the NHS, and has worked in private practice in Harley Street, Canary Wharf & the City. She has worked with board members of well-known blue chip companies and celebrities.
Within the NHS Alison is an expert in working with complex mental health difficulties, having spent her career working within SLaM, an internationally recognised centre of excellence, holding a senior role within National Services. Alison has also worked on International research trials and has presented her work at international conferences, published in peer reviewed academic journals and has won awards for her work. She has also appeared on the BBC with a former client to present the innovative therapy she has been delivering.
With a strong research background, Alison is always up to date with the latest therapeutic interventions, and those which are the most effective for her clients. Alison has been trained in a wide range of therapeutic approaches, but finds that most of the time CBT is the most effective intervention. She is trained to deliver CBT, and what are known as 3rd-wave CBT interventions, which includes compassion focussed-therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Alison holds an academic role as a visiting lecturer, research supervisor and examiner.
