Abii is passionate about improving access to psychological therapies across the UK and is part of the drive to destigmate mental health difficulties. Abii joined HelloSelf to be part of the solution and to be part of an Organisation that demonstrates how technology can improve and enhance the therapeutic process for both clients and practitioners.
Abii is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, UK. Abii completed her clinical training at the Univeristy of Exeter, before pursuing a clinical and Senior Leadership role with one of the largest IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service in the UK. Abii continues to lead this service today alongside her role with HelloSelf.
Within her Strategic Clinical Lead role, Abii reports directly to the CEO of the organisation and is held to account on key performance indicators for the service including recovery, waiting times and access rates. She attends monthly performance meetings with the Commissioners and is passionate about using data to continually monitor the safety and effectiveness of the service and to drive future improvement.
Abii either chairs or participates in the Organisational meetings including the Executive board meeting and represents the service at external strategic meetings in Cornwall and at the south west clinical network meetings.
In addition to this role Abii continues to be instructed by Solicitors across the UK to complete medical legal reports for the courts. Additionally Abii provides therapy in a private capacity in multiple forms including face to face and text based mediums.
Abii’s doctorate training and experience to date have given her a firm understanding of the theoretical underpinnings and application of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for a variety of disorders. She a trained and Accredited Cognitive behavioural Therapist and has experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassionate Mind and other mindfulness-based approaches. Abii has experience of working with clients experiencing a range of physical and mental health difficulties, within both in-patient and out-patient settings, in a variety of different modalities, including individual, group, and couples therapy and has a particular specialism and passion for improving Adult Mental Health.
