About me

Hello, I'm Daniella - an accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist with more than 17 years of experience in mental health. I'm originally from the warm, sunny twin island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago and studied Psychology in Barbados and then moved to the UK to specialize in CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). Living and learning about different cultures has helped me to become a more inclusive, culturally adaptive therapist. As a therapist, I’ve worked in a range of diverse settings such as residential as a Clinical Counselor; academia as a Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor; and in the NHS for many years as CBT Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Perinatal Lead providing individual and group therapy. No matter the setting, the most important thing for me is getting to know the person I’m working with and helping them learn the most helpful tools and skills to thrive and do what matters most to them. I have extensive experience working with low self-esteem, depression and anxiety disorders (e.g. OCD, Generalised Anxiety, Panic, Social Anxiety, trauma and Health Anxiety). Alongside treating anxiety, trauma and depression, my areas of special interest are: - maternal mental health and supporting women on their journey to and through motherhood - long term health conditions - food allergy anxiety and helping families living with food allergies to thrive Compassionate collaboration is how I’d describe my approach as a therapist. We’ll work at your pace as we unpack the difficulties you’ve been experiencing and learn helpful tools. I am mindful that we each have our preferences and learn in different ways so I’ll be adapting therapy to you – choosing specific metaphors, exercises, techniques and tools that resonate with you. My aim is for you to experience therapy that is meaningful and personalized so that you can feel empowered to manage similar difficulties that may arise in the future.
